Day 1, April 16, 2011 Introduction to Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) | 1. To learn the basic principles of applied behavior analysis, learning theory and the fundamental principles of science and behavior; 2. To conduct a Functional Behavior Assessment (FBA) and analysis; 3. To understand the principles of discrete trial training (OTT); shaping and chaining techniques; and 4. To gain knowledge on basic principles of conditioning and learning, including reinforcement theory, stimulus control, and aversive control. |
Day 2-3, April 17-18, 2011 Writing a SMART I.E.P. and BIPSs | 1. To translate the present level of performance (PLOP) of the child into a SMART IEP; 2. To develop research-based behavior intervention plans (BIPs) to reduce problem behaviors in children by integrating the application of ABA-based techniques; 3. To gain knowledge on method of studying and managing behavior to bring about change; and 4. To learn how to intervene using ABA-based techniques, monitoring, evaluating and charting. |
Day 4, April 19, 2011 Picture Exchange Communication Symbols (PECS) Training | 1. To gain knowledge about augmentation alternative communication (AAC); 2. To acquire knowledge about PECS and its advantages over the methods of addressing communication; 3. To experience how to implement the six phases of PECS with actual hands-on experience with a child with autism; and 4. To learn the application of OTT using PECS. |
Day 5, April 20, 2011 Treatment and Education of Autistic and Communication Handicapped Children (TEACCH) | 1. To learn the principles and influences of TEACCH program, predictability, collaboration with parents, assessments, and communication; 2. To develop an individualized person-and family-centered plan for each student, rather than using a standard curriculum; 3. To learn how to use visual supports to make the sequence of daily activities predictable and understandable; and 4. To gain knowledge of TEACCH program to classroom organization, physical structure, curriculum, teaching and care. |
Each participant will be charged a regular registration fee of Eight Thousand Pesos (PhP8,000.00) to be paid after March 30, 2011 while a discounted fee of Seven Thousand Five Hundred Pesos (7,500.00) for each of the early registrants to be paid on or before March 30, 2012.
