The Philippine Water Runs (PWR) 2011

The National Economic Development Authority (NEDA) through the MDG-F 1919: Enhancing Access to and Provision of Water Services with the Active Participation of the Poor Programme in partnership with Veepo will conduct the "The Philippine Water Runs (PWR) 2011.” This is a series of runs slated in major cities across the country. It is a social marketing collaboration among stakeholders from the private sector, government and nongovernment organizations (NGOs). The Millenium Development Goal (MDG) Achievement Fund in the Philippines (MDG-F Philippines) was also invited to join in and promote its advocacy.

The PWR 2011 aims to:

1. bring to the forefront of the Philippine development agenda the issue of lack of water in many rural areas nationwide;
2. demonstrate the power of collaborative efforts, using sports as one of the main tools, to help push advocacy for safe, clean drinking water; and
3. encourage more participation among the people and corporate entities to take active roles in addressing one of the critical social problems affecting Filipino children and women.
   

This activity is comprised of the 3km, 5km, and 10km categories which is open to all running enthusiasts. For the 5km and 10km categories, 13 years old and above are qualified to join. The 3km race is also open to people of all ages who wish to run this short distance. It will have the following legs:

The registration will start two (2) months before the scheduled event per leg. The registration fee, which will be charged to each participant includes race bib, singlet and finishers pin/wrist band, etc., is as follows:
