1. improve the competencies of the elementary school pupils in Mathematics and in Science; and
2. motivate them in developing their intellectual capacity and skills in Mathematics and Science.
The participants to this activity will be composed of two teams from the public school, two teams from the private school and another two teams from MTG Philippines. Each team is composed of six participants for Science and another six for Mathematics. Interested pupils for IMSO 2013 must be currently enrolled in Grades V and VI, who are less than 13 years old by November 26, 2013.
All interested public elementary school pupils will go through the two rounds of qualifying examinations. The first round of qualifying examination will be conducted at the different MTG training centers nationwide at exactly 9:00 a.m. on August 31, 2013. The MTG, Philippines will determine the 30 top scorers and each of them will receive a certificate. They will undergo training from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. starting September 7, 2013 and every Saturday thereafter under the tutelage of the Mathematics and Science experts.
The selection of the top 12 IMSO 2013 participants for each Mathematics and Science to represent the public school teams is based on the results of their performance in the battery of written examinations and attendance in the training. The examination for the final selection is on the last Saturday of October 2013.
