Learning Institute (LI) Workshops of The Philippine Association for Counselor Education, Research and Supervision (PACERS)

The Philippine Association for Counselor Education, Research and Supervision (PACERS), in cooperation with the School of Arts and Sciences, Guidance and Administrative Office and the Graduate School of the University of the Assumption, San Fernando, Pampanga, will conduct the following Learning Institute (LI) Workshops on September 26-27, 2013 at the Bay Leaf University of Assumption, San Fernando, Pampanga:

Aim
Seminar-Workshop 1

Psychological First Aid in Responding to Calamity Survivors
  • To provide the participants with intervention skills in helping professionals in responding to calamity survivors who are suffering and may need support
  • To share them the skills which may help reduce initial distress caused by traumatic events
  • To foster immediate and long-term adaptive functioning and coping of the survivors
Seminar-Workshop 2

Empathic Listening and Making Counseling Referrals: Basic Counseling Skills for Helping Professionals
  • To bring about the desired condition through the knowledge and use of the basic counseling skills
  • To enhance the participants’ self-awareness and sensitivity to the feelings of their clients who may need professional intervention
Seminar-Workshop 3

Technical and Emotional Support: A Counseling Supervision Approach
  • To provide the participants with technical and emotional support and enable them to develop their skills and competencies required of a professional counselor
  • To provide them with various theoretical models, techniques used in supervision and the different roles and tasks of supervisors

The target participants to this activity are counselors, teachers, social workers, nurses and professionals involved in counselling nationwide.

Participation of both public and private schools shall be subject to the no-disruption-of¬classes policy, as stipulated in DepEd Order No. 9, s. 2005 entitled Instituting Measures to Increase Engaged Time-on-Task and Ensuring Compliance Therewith.
