In its 11:00am advisory, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said 2 areas remained under Storm Signal No. 1.
But it warned of a lot of rain, saying Ambo could bring rainfall of twenty to thirty mm per hour (heavy) inside its 400-km diameter.
"Typhoon Ambo is anticipated to boost the southwest monsoon that may bring rains over the entire country particularly the western section," it said.
PAGASA said that as of 10:00am, Ambo was estimated at 320 km east-northeast of Aparri, Cagayan with maximum winds of 120kph close to the middle and gustiness of up to 150kph.
It said Ambo is moving north-northeast at 13kph and is anticipated 420 km east-northeast of Basco, Batanes by Monday morning.
By Tuesday morning it's expected to be 700 km northeast of Basco, Batanes. By Wednesday morning it's expected to be 1,090 km north-northeast of Basco, Batanes.
The Batanes and Calayan Islands are still under the storm signal number 1.
"Residents living in low-lying and mountainous areas, under Storm Signal #1 are alerted against potential flash floods and landslides," it said.
PAGASA additionally advised fishing boats and small seacrafts to not venture out into the seaboards of Southern Luzon and Visayas and also the Northern and Central Luzon eastern seaboard because of the combined result of Ambo and southwest monsoon.
