It is a US government agency responsible for gathering national and international demographic data and economic data. Demographic data includes current total population of the world, USA, and of other nations.

2013

As of January 7, 2013, the total population of the world reaches to 7,058,081,098. While the total population of the United States is estimated to be 315,123,517.

2012

On World Population Day (November 7, 2012), the total population of the world reaches at 7,025,523,939 based on US Census Bureau estimate.

2011

According to the United States Census Bureau, the current total population of the the world in year 2011 is more than 6.9 billion people.

As of March 31, 2011, the country having the largest total population in the world is China. According to the Chinese Official Population Clock, the current total population of China is 1,343,170,000 (1.3 billion) and growing.

But, according to US Government Teachers and US Textbooks, it says that the World Population of 2012 was nearing over 8.1 billion people. So, I think that info ya got there is a little off.
