Deaf Awareness Week 2012

Pursuant to Presidential Proclamation No. 829 dated November 8, 1991 entitled "Declaring the Period from November 10-16 of Every Year as the Deaf Awareness Week," the Department of Education (DepEd) through the Special Education Division of the Bureau of Elementary Education (SPED-BEE), in coordination with the Manila Federation, will lead the 2012 National Observance of the Deaf Awareness Week.
The week-long celebration will be observed on November 10-17, 2012. This will be spearheaded by the LINK Center for the Deaf.

With the theme: Deaf and Able, the observance aims to enhance significant public awareness on the prevention, early detection, intervention, rehabilitation and education of the people with hearing impairment together with able peers.

All public, private and special schools with Special Education (SPED) Centers and programs for the deaf are encouraged to undertake the following activities provided that the Engaged Time-on-Task Policy shall be observed as stipulated in DepEd Order No. 9, s. 2005:
  1. Run for FAn (Fully Abled Nation)
  2. Sports Events
  3. Video Making Workshop
  4. Story Telling (caravan)
  5. Hearing Test (BHPI, UST)
  6. Recollection for Deaf Students
  7. Photo Exhibit
  8. Sayaw, Hataw, Galaw!
  9. Fora on Deaf Awareness
  10. Symposium for parents and other stakeholders
  11. Open House Exhibit
