Managing Teaching and Learning Through ICT for Tech-Voc Teachers

To enhance the teaching and learning activities conducted by the teachers in the 282 Technical-Vocational Schools which are implementing the Strengthened Technical and Vocational Education Program (STVEP), the Tech-Voc Education Task Force (TVETF) will conduct the training program on "Managing Teaching and Learning Through ICT for Tech-Voc Teachers" in two (2) clusters on the following dates and venues:

This training was an offshoot of the Training ning ofTrainerson ICT conducted under the auspices of SEAMEO Voc-Tech-DepEd TVETF through an In-country Training Program. Some of the core of ICT trainers will be tapped to serve as resource persons.

This activity is designed to equip the participants to develop a multimedia instructional material which can facilitate the conduct of an active and interactive learning process through managing on-line teaching-learning using ICT. Specifically, at the end of the training the participants will be able to:
  1. describe the importance of managing teaching and learning through ICT;
  2. integrate the applications of ICT to support teaching and learning; and
  3. develop interactive web-based teaching and learning materials.
The 48 ICT Tech-Voc schools are no longer required to send their participants in the abovementioned training as they were already included in the In-country Training conducted in 2010. For the remaining 234 Tech-Voc schools, each school head will nominate one teacher participant to attend the said ICT training.

Expenses of the organizing committee members and external resource persons such as board and lodging and traveling expenses shall be charged to OSEC Tech-Voc funds, subject to the usual accounting and auditing rules and regulations.

The board and lodging of participants shall also be charged to OSEC Tech-Voc funds, while their traveling expenses to and from the venue shall be charged to local funds. For Cluster 1, they are advised to arrive at the venue in the afternoon of April 28 and leave after breakfast on May 2, 2011. For Cluster 2, they are advised to arrive at the venue in the afternoon of May 25 and leave after breakfast on May 29, 2011.

The participants are required to have a good background in the practical use of computers. As the training will utilize heavily on the use of individual computers, participants are requested to bring their own laptop. Furthermore, they are also requested to bring sample lesson plan, teaching and learning materials like videos and photos related to the subjects they are teaching.
