Activities of National Teachers’ Month and the World Teachers’ Day

The Public Services Labor Independent Confederation (PSLINK) and the Basic Education Sector Teachers Federation (BESTFED) will conduct the following activities in celebration of the National Teachers’ Month and the World Teachers’ Day:

- Highlight the important role which teachers play in achieving quality education

- Mobilize teachers to respond to ongoing policy reforms in the education sector particularly the K to 12

- Generate wide support for teachers’ rights and welfare and quality education

- Express sincere gratitude to the valuable contribution of teachers in nation building and good governance

- Propose recommendations for the K to 12 labor policy being developed by the Tripartite Executive Council-National Tripartite Industrial Peace Council (TEC  NTIPC)

The union/association officers of public school teachers and non-teaching personnel nationwide are invited to attend the said activities.

The resource speakers are representatives from DepEd Central Office, the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), Department of Budget and Management (DBM), Civil Service Commission (CSC), Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE)-BLR and the Commission of Higher Education (CHED).

Participation of both public and private schools shall be subject to the no-disruption-of¬classes policy as stipulated in DepEd Order No. 9, s. 2005 entitled Instituting Measures to Increase Engaged Time-on-Task and Ensuring Compliance Therewith. This activity is also subject to the no-collection policy as stated in Section 3 of Republic Act No. 5546, An Act Prohibiting the Sale of Tickets and/or the Collection of Contributions for Whatever Project or Purpose from Students and Teachers of Public and Private Schools, Colleges and Universities (Ganzon Law).
