Guidelines on the Screening of Fourth Year High School Student-Applicants Who Will Take The 2011 National Career Assessment Examination

The Department of Education (DepEd) has issued DepEd Memorandum No. 153, s. 2011 entitled Changes to DepEd Order No. 28, s. 2011 (Calendar of Activities for SY 2011-2012) and DepEd Memorandum No. 270, s. 2007 (Administration of the National Career Assessment Examination (NCAE) to All Fourth Year High School Students).
The Memorandum states that "To give sufficient time for comprehensive career guidance to high school students before they enter the tertiary level, the Department of Education (DepEd) through the National Education Testing and Research (NETRC) shall administer the SY 2011-2012 NCAE which is moved from August 31, 2011 to September 28, 2011 as stated in the enclosure of DepEd Order No. 28, s. 2011. It will be given to the following: third year high school students as an amendment to DepEd Memorandum No. 270, s. 2007; and (b) fourth year high school student-applicants of CHED and TESDA Scholarship Programs.

In this connection, this Office issues the following guidelines and procedures in the screening of the Fourth Year high school student-applicants of CHED/TESDA scholarship programs who will take the NCAE:
  1. Consider the top ten percent (10%) students from each secondary high school regardless of the school size;
  2. These students should have a General Weighted Average (GWA) of eighty percent (80%) in the Third Year and should come from a family whose gross annual income is Three Hundred Thousand Pesos (PhP300,000) or below;
  3. A letter of intent signed by the parents of the examinees must be submitted signifying that they are interested to apply for the CHED/TESDA scholarship;
  4. Interested Fourth Year students, out-of-school youth (OSY) and A & E Test passers can take the test provided that the requirements in Item b are met;
  5. Utilize the prescribed format below in the preparation of the list of the Fourth Year NCAE examinees (Excel format).

  1. The deadline of the submission of the enrolment data through e-mail address: depednetrc@yahoo.com. is on August 25, 2011; and
  2. During the test, a separate testing room will be provided for the scholarship applicants in Fourth Year.
