The objectives of the Seminar-Workshop are to:
- equip Kindergarten and Primary level teachers with understanding and skills in using techniques in teaching alphabet knowledge, phonological awareness and beginning and independent reading;
- train teachers in employing strategies that will increase print awareness and hone pupils’ writing skills;
- guide teachers in the proper assessment of the reading and writing skills of the pupils; and
- promote teachers’ capabilities in creating a literacy rich classroom environment.
The target participants to this activity are kindergarten/preschool and primary level (Grades 1 to 3) teachers from both public and private schools, preschool coordinators, head teachers and principals, district/education supervisors, education program supervisors and interested teachers and students (Graduate and Undergraduate) whose specialization is in the field of kindergarten/preschool education and elementary education.
