Special Program in Foreign Language (SPFL) Summer Training Courses for Teachers

The Department of Education (DepEd) through the Bureau of Secondary Education (BSE) announces the conduct of the Special Program in Foreign Language (SPFL) Summer Training Courses for Teachers. The DepEd-BSE, in coordination with the Japan Foundation, Goethe Institut, Alliance Francaise Manila and Cebu, and the Confucius Institute of the Angeles University Foundation, announces the summer training courses which will be held on the following dates and venues:

The training courses aim to capacitate the teachers on the diverse aspects involved in learning a second or foreign language.

The participants in the training shall be the secondary school teachers from
selected high schools nationwide (Please see Enclosures). Likewise, the principals/school heads of Chinese-Mandarin pilot and expansion schools shall attend the Orientation on April 16-18, 2012 at the training venue.

The teachers who will undergo training shall be given service credits provided in DepEd Order No. 53, s. 2003 entitled "Updated Guidelines on Grant of Vacation Service Credits to Teachers."

The traveling expenses (transportation and per diem) of the participants except for the teachers from the Chinese-Mandarin expansion schools shall be reimbursed upon presentation of complete travel documents at the training venue. Traveling expenses, stipend of Japanese teachers outside National Capital Region (NCR) and other incidental expenses of the participants are chargeable to Human Resource Training and Development (HRTD) Funds, subject to the usual accounting and auditing rules and regulations. Participants are advised to take the cheapest means of transportation to and from the venue.

The partner language institutions shall cover the training fees and materials.
