2012 Palarong Pambansa

The 2012 Palarong Pambansa shall be held on May 6-12, 2012 in Lingayen, Pangasinan to be hosted by the Provincial Government of Pangasinan and DepEd Regional Office 1 assisted by the Schools Division Office of Pangasinan 1 and the City Schools Division Offices of San Carlos City and Dagupan City. The Palarong Pambansa aims to:

1. promote Physical Education (PE) and sports as an integral part of the Basic Education Curriculum (BEC) and as an affirmation to the school's commitment to the full development of the great potentials of the youth to become responsible and globally competitive citizens of the society;
2. instill and imbibe among the pupils/students the spirit of discipline, teamwork, excellence, fair play, solidarity, sportsmanship, and other values inherent in sports;
3. widen the base for talent identification, selection, recruitment, training and exposure of elementary pupils and secondary students;
4. provide a database for a valid and universal basis to further improve the school sports development program; and
5. serve as a feeder to the National Sports Associations (NSA) for further training of athletes for international competitions.
   

The National Executive Committee, chaired by the Undersecretary for Regional Operations, together with the Local Host Palaro Executive Committee led by the Governor of Pangasinan as Chairman, and the DepEd Region 1 Director as Co-Chairman, together with the host SDS is hereby convened.

The DepEd Regional Offices shall organize their respective athletic delegations comprising the best student-athletes, coaches and officials.

The technical management as well as the financial, administrative and operational matters relative to the preparation, hosting and conduct of the Palarong Pambansa 2012 shall be under the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Legal and Legislative Affairs to be assisted by the School Sports Events and Activities Unit (SSEAU). The SSEAU shall provide technical management, secretariat/staff, and operational services.

The sports events played in the previous 2011 Palarong Pambansa with its related general and technical guidelines shall remain in effect unless otherwise amended, modified or revised.
