TEACOSY Little Dutch Girl early to mid 20th century A very pretty Celluloid like Half Doll with a hand knitted dress, cap and hand bag of a fairly intricate design requiring some skills. It is a Teacosy or teapot warmer. She is made from a similar early plastic that we would loosely classify as Celluloid and which is similar to the Cupie dolls you bought at the Royal Easter Show for example in the 1940s onwards and what we always called 'a dolly on a stick' (if they were on a stick of course). But the face of this one is more normal and realistic than the ones we bought at The Show which had a Cupie doll look to them - more Betty Boop than a real girl. This one has a natural face and does look like a Dutch girl rather than just a Cupie dressed up like a Dutch girl so she is an interesting doll collectable - her true origins are unknown (to us anyway). She is 26cm tall and weighs 80g. CONDITION - Overall in good original used condition with both arms detached. The only fault being the string holding the arms in place has broken and needs to be replaced by someone with a few more skills than we possess. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We guarantee our descriptions are accurate and our prices competitive.
