"I've just had the same problem. You simply need to factory reset your iPhone by connecting to iTunes via the USB port on a computer and restoring the phone.

If your iPhone's 'Find my iPhone' is enabled you will need to use the steps below. (This method resets your iPhone instantly as long as you have it charged)

1. Go to the iCloud website.

2. Log in and click 'Find my iPhone'.

3. Click the ALL DEVICES drop-down and select your broken device.

4. Click the 'Erase iPhone' option.

The Apple logo will appear on your iPhone's screen, and then it will install the basic software.

Thanks :)"

"The best thing to try is to take the back off and disconnect the battery.

try pressing down on the back of the iphone just above the apple and to the left. this is where the connector for the LCD is. It may have worked itself loose. Hopefully you can reseat it without having to do this.

If that doesn't work and you dont want to take it apart, try plugging it into itunes and put it into the recovery mode. there are posts here that can walk you through that."

I downloaded software called Reiboot which did the trick for me. It's strange that nobody has mentioned it here. It's free and allows you to put your phone into recovery mode and then break out of recovery mode, effectively rebooting your iOS device from your computer. They appear to have a Mac version and Windows version.

"I had the same problem.

What happened is last night i was about to sleep i checked my phone and any of the buttons aren't working, of course i went to search how to fix it and most of the suggestions are pressing the lock & home button at the same time for 10-15 seconds but mine didn't work considering i have a broken lock button for months now. and I went to search again and see i wasn't the only one so i felt relieved a bit.

I've read everyone's suggestions here but I did one strategy that worked 100%. What you should do is completely drain your battery (I left mine to drain for 11 hours) and after that you should charge it in the computer and wait. If the low battery sign turned on then u should wait for the apple logo then ur saved."

"I had this happen to me last night (iPhone 4S) and my top button has not been working for some time.

I could still use Siri (speak to her and hear her but no see anything) so I knew it was just a screen issue.

I read through many MANY forums the general consensus is to restart the phone, but without one of your buttons working that is difficult. For me it was a combination of solutions;

One person suggested holding the home button and the volume + button together for 25 seconds which can force a restart.

Another suggested running your battery flat, again hard to do when you can't access the screen. So I called my phone A LOT and talked to Siri to run it down.

I think it was a combination of both things because my phone eventually turned itself off. I only know this because Siri stopped responding.

Then I plugged it into a power source and the empty battery icon appeared. About 10-15mins of charge and the screen turned on.

I hope this helps someone else out there."

"Due to my lock button being broken and also my home screen was broken, the screen was completely blank but siri worked!

I left my phone over night to completely die then charged it this morning and now it works fine, just a bit slow but i blame that on the IOS 9 update.

I hope this helps someone :)"
