Can't hear person on the other line

Can't hear person on the other line When I'm making calls, I can't hear the person on the other line and they can't hear me as well.

The problem might be due to poor connection between the headset and the phone itself. Ensure that the cord is securely connected at both ends. "I have a problem with VISTA 390 (AASTRA) corded telephone. The caller cannot hear me. I have replace the cord and secure it. The problem seems to be with the volume control . It is not working. Please help
