Fridge/freezer not cooling: trying to determine the issue

This is for an 8y old 3 door Samsung (RF261BEAESP). The fridge and freezer are both not cooling. There are no error codes. The compressor is running, but no cool air. Cook tank is warm. The coolant line from the compressor to the fridge is not cool.

"Hi @geneg ,

Either a coolant leak or a faulty compressor. Is the compressor hot to the touch?

Check for any oily residues on or below the condenser and compressor. There is a special oil mixed in with the refrigerant to lubricate the compressor. If there is a leak then the gas will escape to the air undetected but sometimes the oil may leave a trace, but not always. Just something to look for in the more easily accessible places.

When you say that there are no error codes, is this when the fridge diagnostic tests have been done?

If not here’s the service manual. Run the diagnostics as per p.49 and check.

Unfortunately the manual doesn’t give the sealed system suction and high pressure values, only the amount of refrigerant used, so the only way to tell what is wrong is to connect into the system with the appropriate equipment, to see what the pressures are, if there is any, to know what is wrong and where.

Depending on your location, you may need the services of a licensed repairer to do this so as to comply with the government regulations regarding the handling of refrigerant gases."
