Hard drive Not as fast as it use to be.

Hard drive Not as fast as it use to be. When i got my Mybook 2TB it use to give me like 120 MB/s read and 110 MB/s Write now im i get like 90 MB/s read and 80MB/s Write and i dont understand why i just use it for backup through USB 3.0. I even used Crystal Disk info to see if there is something wrong but nothing showed up. any suggestions?

"File fragmentation!

Overtime your disk becomes frag'ed. I would recommend getting a good defragmentation app i.e. Disk Genius or get a second HD to copy off the files then reformat the drive and put the files back."

"The Mac OS (and every modern OS) has had automatic defragmentation built in since 10.2, so I wouldn't guess that's the issue. Lots of software utilities disregard this fact and will defragment your drive anyway, although I'm not sure there's any reason to.

I would go into Disk Utility and do a Repair Disk Permissions. Also, how full is the drive?"
