How do I make my laptop's mute key work in OpenSUSE 11.1

I just installed openSUSE 11.1 and I am pretty psyched to give everything a go but I have noticed that my volume and mute buttons don't seem to be working. I am sort of new so I don't really know where to start.

If you're using KDE, you can use KMix to configure custom keys to toggle volume levels and mute.

"It could be something with the PCM too. Can i ask the model of the laptop?
Keytouch Is in a common repo, might solve the problem too."
