How to choose my own filename format for subscribed podcast files? I subscribe to several podcasts where the filenames of the downloaded mp3 files have no particular pattern to them. When I copy the directory of accumulated mp3 files into my mp3 player, the files play in alphabetical order. What I really want is to play the files chronologically by release date.

If the files contain ID3 tags with the release date you can use a tool like MP3tag to automatically rename the files based on whatever criteria you set. Even if they don't have the release date they probably have an artist and title tag specifying who released the podcast and what "episode" it is, most of mine do.
