My camera's lens will not extend?

My camera's lens will not extend?

Okay so my camera turns on fine now, but when I try to zoom in on something the lens does not extend! I almost traded this darn thing in but I spent a considerable amount of money on it and I'm not one for being cheap. Can someone help me?
