Why can't I retrieve playback on Sony Camcorder?

I have ‘07 Sony Dcr-dvd 108 and can’t retrieve playback in camcorder after previously able to do so. When insert disc, motor revs with “disc access,” then says “movie recording disabled” on couple discs - and on other discs, it forces me to reformat disc with ratio, which WILL delete content. On discs where I WAS able to retrieve content, it says “disc access” then “disc full and cannot record” and then content appears for playback.
