Why does my camera show that I have full battery, but it dies?

Why does my camera show that I have full battery, but it dies?

My camera never shows it has a low battery, It always shows full or half. I sometimes go without charging it and look to see if it has a full battery and it shows that it does. But it dies a few moments later.
