Why does text in Ubuntu on a MacBook Pro appear larger?

I have installed Ubuntu on VirtualBox on my MacBook Pro (running Mac OS X 10.5). I have set both Ubuntu terminal's text and my iTerm's text on MacBook using the same font (monospace) and same size (10).

"The first place to check is whether your DPi is set lower.

Within Ubuntu/Gnome, go to Appearance > Fonts > Details

At the top is a Resolution option, I believe by default this is set to 96 DPI. If this value is different it will cause your fonts to appear larger/smaller than you expect."
