Why is my camera not capturing any sound when recording videos?

Why is my camera not capturing any sound when recording videos? My Coolpix S33 camera takes great pictures however when I turn it to video capture mode it fails to record any sounds during the recording. I've checked the settings in the camera but can not find any ways to get the sound working properly for when I try to make a video with the camera.

There are a few reasons as to why you camera may not be capturing sounds properly while taking videos. The most likely reason is that you could be too far away from the sounds being made and so the camera is unable to capture the noise through its microphone. Attempt to record a video with sound from a short distance and see if that works. Alternatively, it is possible that if your camera has suffered from overheating, water damage, or has an electrical problem, the microphone is not working as intended.
