Why would the home button work, but not Touch ID?

Why would the home button work, but not Touch ID?

I own a small Apple repair business, and have done a large number of iPhone screen repairs... everything from the iPhone 3G up to the iPhone 5S. I have only done a handful of 5S repairs thus far though, and haven't had any issues until now. The problem I'm having with a customer's phone is with Touch ID. Now, I'm fully aware that the home button flex cable that ships with a 5S is unique to that particular phone, and cannot be replaced while still preserving Touch ID functionality. Repairs don't generally make me nervous anymore, but 5S repairs do because of this....so, I'm extremely careful.

"Just re-connect the home button and do the hard reset

it will work :)"

Inspect the cable and connector for visual damage and reconnect the parts.

Sounds like he damaged your home button cable. I’ve done it to customers phone and have had to take to Apple to replace screen with newly synced home button on my dime. It’s not fun but it happens even to the best of us repair guys.

"I need help I will be thankful to the person who help me I may not be able to pay him but I will pray for him

my iPhone 6 screen shattered I dropped it when I was getting out of my car I took it to local repair store not apple he changed my screen but the Touch ID stopped working

i talked to him about it he claims that this happens when Someone droop his phone I’m afraid that he damaged my Touch ID and replaced it with another one that will not work

1-my registered fingerprint Was not found after he fixed my screen how to know if he actually damaged my old Touch ID or replaced it

2-is their a way to fixed it

note:he opened my phone and unplug the cable many times he replaced the screen while standing and talking to customers"
