Windows 7 fails to install on KVM with qemu

Windows 7 fails to install on KVM with qemu I'm trying to install Windows 7 as the guest OS in a virtual machine hosted by my 64-bit Ubuntu Karmic box. I get to the point of selecting my language settings and clicking 'install now', but a short while later I get a blue screen of death.

"The 0x1e exception is KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED, which is usually either a hardware-related or device driver-related fault. My guess is that, for whatever reason, Windows is not liking the emulated hardware from the virtual machine.

Have you tried using VirtualBox? They have a release for Karmic Koala, and they support Windows 7 (I'm running Win7 right now on a Windows XP box)."

"I was able to start the install by changing first the display to cirrus as recommended here: ubuntuforumsdotorg/showthread.php?t=2325843&s=67c08420c394b532ea814a0c46752914&p=13500324#post13500324

install Win 7 with cirrus graphics, shut down vm
add a second graphics adapter as qxl
boot vm and install the qxl driver
shut down vm and remove the cirrus adapter"
