"Hi @sundaychampagne ,

You may have to re-assemble the device to try the following.

With the device switched on and set up to display an image, try shining a torch at an angle close to the screen to check if you can detect an image at all.

It will be very faint so try it in a darkened room to help if you can detect an image.

If you can then hopefully the rest of the device is working normally but you have a backlight problem with the screen,

This is not as bad as it sounds as you say that the wire is broken, looking at the first image it appears that there are only 2 wires in the cable, I suspect that this cable is the backlight power cable from the motherboard to the screen.

Depending on whether it is permanently connected to the screen or it plugs into or is soldered onto a connector on the screen will determine how to go about getting it fixed."

@runwithsnips thank you! Really appreciate the help. We got it open, replaced the CR battery.. still dead. Oh, well. I guess it wasn't meant to be…but thanks for the help to get it open!

That blue part in the pictures is a battery. Disconnect it and measure its voltage. If it is not 4.2 or so after being charged it is bad. If you can’t find a replacement specifically for it, go to AliExpress, eBay, or Amazon and search by voltage and capacity. Be sure to match the connector and size. If the connector isn’t right you can swap the old on by cutting and resoldering wires.
