Dishwasher drains only when water in the bottom has cooled.

Dishwasher drains only when water in the bottom has cooled.

My dishwasher is barely a year and a half old. Model number WDT720PADM2 that has worked great until recently. It runs the cycle perfectly and then there is water in the bottom at the end. If I go and manually press the “Drain” function it will make a noise like a murmur but not drain. If I wait a few hours until the water cools (the pump even), it will drain just fine.

"I’m still working on the cause.

Dishwasher Water in the Bottom of the Tub. Some water (standing water), usually one to two cups, remaining in the bottom of the tub is normal. Is this your case?

"@russellran12 I would suspect that you have an issue with your home plumbing draining slow. The hot water would have nothing to do with draining. Or, you could have a pump motor overheating and cutting off and when it cools it comes back on.

If the water in the dishwasher has an odor it could be that the drain is backing into the dishwasher. The dishwasher will wash, drain, wash, drain several times in the cycle. You should hear it drain several times, not just at the beginning."
