How do I fix my Jaybird X2? faulty power button

apparently, there is a bad connection. The power button does not work properly.

"Hey,

I had similar issue with my bluebud X

Volume button work perfeclty, but power button work half the time, and stick when working (button stay down witch result in power off after 2 sec)

Source of problem:

After dissasembly, i realise the metal cup making contact for the power button had moved

Short answer:

replaced the metal cup to it's original place

Long answer:

remove the back cover of the button-mic assembly (8 small clib, 4 per side)

remove the red holder (6 clip, 4 per side)

be extra carfull with the small wire ( i recomande taping the earphone on a table will working to eleminate any strain on those wire)

remove the board (mine was slightly glued in place)

remove the tape holding the metal cup

place new tape on metal cup

Place tape + metal cup dead center on the + sign on the board (do not block the mic hole)

power on earphone to test

reassemble carefully (don't pinch small wire)

"It's a simple and robust machine. I used my first until the battery life's done, second until I ran it over with my car. However, on the third I ran into similar problem.

1. Takes multiple tries to turn on the headset.

2. It turns off by itself when the battery power is still left.

3. Automatically went into pairing mode after turning it on.

All indicating power button failure.

These are things you can do. In that order.

1. Reset the headset:

Get into the pairing mode by turning it on and keep the button pressed until the red/green lights blink.

Press volume up and down buttons simultaneously until yellow light blinks three times and turns itself off.

Clear the jaybird pairing profile from your device(s).

Turn it on and pair it with the device.

2. Another reset method:

Press power button 8 times in quick but distinct successions before pressing it for 5 seconds at 9th click.

Turn it off.

Repeat it one more time.

Clear the jaybird paring profile from your device(s).

Turn it on and pair it with the device.

3. Button metal cap displacement issue:

I went on to disassemble the switch assembly and I found the same thing emericrobert found. The button was slightly misplaced and I corrected the position.

I did it by submerging the assembly into 100% isopropanol for a while to soften the glue, and carefully disassembled it. It's full of glue and it's so easy to ruin it. Do it right before throwing it out."

"I’ve disassembled my faulty jaybird x2s and this is the result. The problem seems to be with the buttons as the metal plates seem to be working correctly. When I put the buttons back on, then the auto redialling and all the wacky stuff resumes.

Anybody has any pointers on how to go about fixing these buttons?"
