How do I upload photos from the camera to my computer?

How do I upload photos from the camera to my computer? I'm not sure what to do after I plug in the camera to the computer in order to see the photos on my computer.

One way to do so would be to remove the SD card from the camera and place it into the SD card slot of the computer used and simply copy and paste or drag and drop the photos from that SD card to the computer. Once that job is done, simply remove the SD card from the laptop and place it back into the camera.
