"I recently purchased a samsung UN40J5200 1080 Smart TV with preloaded apps including Netflix and Amazon. When downloading movies from EITHER app after about 20 min of watching sound sound cuts out with short irregular bursts of sound. TV verified apps were up to date. I was able to overcome problem by using a Roku model 4620X (a smart device with powerful quad processor) to connect with Netflix etc.

My hypothesis for streaming problems is that Samsung didn't put enough RAM to hold the movies and prioitizes picture over sound! IF THIS IS TRUE then they are being CHEAP. Not a good business model. I won't buy another Samsung TV. I wasted about 3 hours on this problem and it was very annoying!"

As Jetson said (and I tried this today and it seems to have solved the issue (which I have lived with for two years!). Go into your settings on the TV and find Anynet (which if 'on' turn 'off'). It solved the problem. The only issue seems to be that I need to manually turn the volume off on the TV because Anynet used to turn the TV volume off automatically when I used my AV receiver. That said, it's lovely to watch TV without the constant breaks in the sound - I am going to report this to Samsung....

"TV - U50KU7000KXXA

Sound bar- HW-MS550

Sound 'hicups' on tv speakers and soundbar using HDMI or optical audio connection.

I put my 'HDMI Audio Format' to Bitstream and 'Audio Format' to PCM and it sorted it out. I have no clue what it all means but it worked......luckily, because the next adjustment was to be a brick through the screen."

I bought my 55 inch flat screen samsung "smart" TV last year during black friday and have had the same problem. The only fix I have found is using an apple tv instead of their smart hub.
