Why is my screen white after I replaced the lcd and digitizer?

I cracked my screen and ordered a replacement. Upon receiving my the new LCD and digitizer I carefully installed them and reassembled the iPod. Now, when I try to turn it on the screen is white. I tried to do a reset by holding the home button and screen lock button for 30 to 40 seconds, but that did not help. Any ideas of what I may have done wrong? Could it be a faulty part?

Travis Mo, it is always possible that it is a defective product, but first what I would do is to disassemble again and triple check the connections and to make sure that everything is seated properly and that all cable and connections are clean and straight.

this is a common problem, look for a program called recboot stick the ipod into recovery mode and wait a min, then connect to itunes, then quit itunes again, run recboot again and kick it out of recovery mode this should sort it out, if not then it is possibly a fault caused by static which can sometimes resolve by running the battery completely flat and leaving alone for a day or so then put a little charge in it again!

Although i have a 3GS, i had a similar problem after replacing the glass. However i had fixed my screen by pushing down on the connector, it apparently wasn't in all the way so it just showed the white screen. Try it out and tell me how that goes.

"it is the connection I hold mine down and it works and I le it go I feel it move and it goes white. the LCd connector is a pain in the rear end to stay down while putting the screen in place

Update

it is the connector when I hold it down it works but when I let go it moves and the screen fades to white. so the connection is incomplete. Th connector is a pain to keep down in the replacement."

"I've ordered from wholesaler's that get their products from China. A few months back I got a batch of replacement screens and none would work. The replacements, which I received, had 4 rows of connectors on the thin cable vs 2 rows that is standard on the stock screen that came on the iPod.

If you look at the one in the top photo, the one with 4 columns of pins, I could never get those to work.

However, the bottom photo, is a replacement that matches the connector that comes built in from the factory. They have all worked fine."

I have just managed to replace digitizer/lcd. First the result was white screen. Then I changed back to the old screen but now that was white too. Then I tried to reset ipod like described holding home, vol. Up and then power button. Hold all three buttons until the screen turns on and show the apple. After several tries it worked and I replaced the old screen with the new again and it worked. Good luck.
