Any guidance for DIY repair of corroded positive battery cables?

Any guidance for DIY repair of corroded positive battery cables? BMW 335i convertible has corroded positive battery cables due to water in battery compartment and I would prefer to repair them rather than replace. Instructions from anyone with experience performing this procedure appreciated. Thank you.
