Intermittently refuses to drain or spin

Machine stops after the wash cycle, as if the lid switch was broken. We replaced the lid switch last year. We can still get it to drain and spin by resetting the timer to the same or another rinse cycle, but it takes several attempts to find a "sweet spot" where the washer will come on. If the lid is lifted after it restarts, it will go dead again and the resetting process must be repeated. Once we successfully restart it, the machine will carry out subsequent drain/rinse/spin cycles without further problems.

ANSWERS:

Test that lid switch again first.
