My touchpad is not working

My touchpad is not working
My rouchpad on my ipod classic is not working. i have tried wiggling the charger, placing plastic on the charging port but it still does not work and my screen is permanently on the language menu. please help

Do a hard reset hold down the power button and home button at the same time til the apple logo appears hope that sorts it
