No sound from left ear after replacing Headphone Jack

My IPOD Video 30gb didn't have any sound from the left ear. I purchased a replacement Headphone Jack and Hold Switch and I still have the problem. I have tried different head phones but still have the same problem.

ANSWERS:

Either a faulty jack that you bought, or installed incorrectly-- make sure all the connections are tight.
