Now the top half is so dark it’s almost black
Mine started turning blue. Now the top half is so dark it’s almost black. I too was told by Visio that it was not covered under warranty and to buy a new TV. Mine is a 65” SmartCast and about 18 months old.

mike richardson post a couple of pictures of your screen with your question so we can see what you see. Ultimately it sounds like a backlight issue. This could be caused by either a bad power board (failing capacitors) or the backlight itself. Remove the back and take a look at the power board. Check first for leaking, bulging capacitors and other obviously damaged components. Post some images of that as well. Adding images to an existing question
