VHS Tape will not play and machine cuts off with "No Signal Found"

Emerson EWD2204 VCR/DVD Combo. The VCR part does not play VHS tapes. I put in a tape and after a couple seconds the machine cuts off and I get the message "No Signal Found". Any ideas about what the problem may be?
