Why does my monitor screen flickers twice and the backlight turns off?

Fault finding by elimination.

1. Have you selected the correct video input type vga, dvi etc?

2 .Have you tried a different video cable? (amber light indicates standby mode -no signal perhaps?)

3. Can you connect the monitor to another PC and see if it works?

4. Try a different video input type on the monitor - you have vga and dvi-d to choose, try the opposite to what you are using if possible

5.Try the monitor OSD (on screen display function where you adjust the settings - colour, brightness etc) - if this works your monitor problems may be tied up with the signal input side of things if the other suggestions don't work."
