Why is it making a loud clicking noise?

Why is it making a loud clicking noise? Everytime I go to put my truck into drive or reverse or to take off in drive, it makes a really loud click noise like metal hitting. I do have a leak on my rear end axle(the gear oil thing) i have also replaces the driveshaft and ujoints and u straps recently. could it be the driveshaft?
