Why is no image being shown?

Why is no image being shown? I recently purchased adapters to allow my projector to connect to my MacBook Pro. Sound is being heard from the projector but no image is being shown. There is a bright light coming from inside the projector and the fan is being sounded (loudly) as well. How might I be able to have an image shown? Thanks! ANSWERS:
