Why is the circuit breaker going off

Why is the circuit breaker going off Yesterday my dryer stopped working. We found that the breaker is suddenly being tripped. Why would this happen ANSWERS: Something is drawing to much power. Use a multimeter to test for shorts. Look for burned wires.
