Why won't my LG tv turn on?

Why won't my LG tv turn on? My 42" LG flat screen TV will not turn on. The little red light is on, and will flicker when I press the power button, but nothing else happens. I've tried unplugging it, for a minute or more, and switching outlets, but nothing works. ANSWERS:
