"The height of the tree is 20 ft.

EXPLANATION:

Since he climbing up the tree is twice as slow than going down, then it will take twice as long.

Distributing the time, it will take 2 minutes for him to climb up the tree and 1 minute to go down.

Therefore, the height is 20 feet.

SOLUTION:

Distance = Speed x Time

D(up) = D(down)

Let the time going up be x.

10ft/min * x = 20 ft/min * (3-x)
10x = 20(3-x)
10x = 60 - 20x
30x = 60
x = 2 minutes

Substitute.

D = 10 x 2 = 20 feet"
