One of the largest banks in the Philippines, Banco de Oro (BDO) recently added a new security feature in processing wire transfer of money in which a client or a BDO accountholder needs to verify through his/her email address the transfer of money through online banking.
This is the letter sent by BDO to its accountholders:
As an enhancement to our security measures, please be advised that effective November 19 up to January 30, 2013, all Wire Transfer requests done through BDO Online Banking will be verified through your registered primary email address or mobile number before processing.
Please allow at least two (2) days for the validation. Hence, it is advised that you file your Wire Transfer transactions ahead of schedule.

I think BDO added this security feature on its online banking facility due to the tragic event that happened to an Overseas Filipino Worker Stephen Yu whose online banking account has been hacked and he losed a total of P49,000 worth of money.
