Established on June 29, 1982, NABCOR is a government–owned and controlled corporation operating parallel to the thrust of the Department of Agriculture (DA). As a corporate arm of the DA, NABCOR sees itself as the leading government corporation in the development of agribusiness enterprises in the countryside to improve productivity and real incomes of Small Farmers and Fisherfolk (SFF) within the context of farmer-focused, market-led and sustainable agriculture. Its mission of promoting agribusiness through the development, modeling and/or replication of viable and innovative agribusiness enterprises is focused for the benefit of the SFFs.
The Company intends to sustain the supply of corn inputs to NABCOR through a combined effort of bulk purchases from local farmers as well as company-initiated farming efforts within the locality where NABCOR’s post-harvest facility is located.
The company expects that this agreement will further augment its rapidly increasing corporate revenue stream through the following income generating activities:
- The eventual sale of processed corn to feed mills nationwide;
- The effective increase in sales of farm inputs brought about by the resulting increase in demand from local farmers in order to maximize their yield and profit in the sale of their corn harvest to the Company.
Finally, this agreement intends to strengthen the Company’s position as the country’s largest combined distributor of feeds, agrochemicals, fertilizers, veterinary medicine and other agricultural products and at the same time help in the creation, development and improvement of the livelihood of the Filipino farmer.
