GE Transportation and PT KAI to build an auto service center

GE Transportation and PT Indonesia Railway agreed to build an auto service center for the region which includes the ASEAN countries Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.
This cooperation is contained in the memorandum of agreement between the two companies. In the memorandum of agreement, it was also mentioned GE will hold PT KAI to improve service at Balai Yasa especially Yogyakarta to be able to guarantee the availability of diesel-electric vehicles in the fleet of PT KAI GE. GE will provide training by experts for its employees the option of PT KAI to be held in the United States and also in Indonesia.

CEO of GE Transportation Lorenzo Simonelli, said the partnership with Indonesia, which had long this will further encourage companies to provide services that more reliable for decades. "We will serve our customer PT KAI and participate and support the sustainable growth of Indonesia's infrastructure," he said as quoted by the release. 

GE was directed to run a regional parts distribution function in order to continue to serve the needs of spare parts to the service center with a fast PT KAI. This will speed up the process of service so that the auto service center can be operated immediately.

GE will also establish a manufacturing center for the traction motors that serve the ASEAN region. It will be housed on-site service at Balai Yasa PT KAI Yogyakarta. Companies from the United States will provide guidance in the manufacturing process, which uses manufacturing stance "GE Lean". 

GE also will recommend the machinery and equipment for the manufacture of traction motors in order to meet the highest industry standards. Experts PT KAI will also be trained by GE in the traction motors to run the manufacturing process. PT KAI will be able to serve the ASEAN region if it has been certified as a GE manufacturing for GE traction motors. Product of GE locomotives with the latest models, fuel efficient, reliable and cost-effective to serve the ASEAN region. Currently there are approximately 250 GE locomotives operating in Indonesia, including some who have succeeded beyond 34 years of committed service line operations.
