During the command and retirement ceremony at Villamor Airbase, Pasay City (Philippines), President Aquino said Major General Lauro Catalino Dela Cruz has been picked for his loyalty to public service.
Aquino describes Dela Cruz as an efficient, trustworthy and valuable leader.
President Aquino praised Lt. General Rabena for his 38 years of dedication in public service and for creating reforms in the Philippine Air Force.
In the ceremony speech of Major General Lauro Catalino Dela Cruz, he promised that Philippine Air Force (PAF) will be more equipped in serving the people and in saving lives, especially during disasters. He describes PAF as the Philippine's "wings for peace". And under his command, PAF will always be prepared to protect the Philippines' territorial integrity and to readily help people in times of disasters. He envisioned a more-disciplined Air Force, "the kind we will all be proud of."
President Aquino said that changes made by Rabena have dramatically improved the PAF system and improves professionalism
Aquino appreciated the PAF for its public service during the search rescue and relief operations after the havoc created by Typhoon "Sendong" in December 2011, even if they only have one operational C-130.
