2011 MTG Qualifying Examination for the 12-SATURDAY Mathematical Challenge for Filipino Kids Training Program

The Mathematics Trainers' Guild (MTG) Philippines will conduct a Qualifying Examination for all interested Filipino math-wizards in the public and private elementary and high schools on July 23, 2011 at the selected MTG training centers which will be announced in this website, www.mtgphil.org.
The qualifying examination aims to:
  1. evaluate the breadth of the students' mathematical knowledge and skills;
  2. select superior students in the field of mathematics for further training and advancement;
  3. provide the Filipino youth with the appropriate avenue to enhance their mathematical skills through phases of intensive mathematics training programs; and
  4. develop the mathematical potentials of the mathematics promising students to meet the international mathematics standards.
The participants in the qualifying examination are mathematics-inclined or mathematics promising public and private elementary and high school students nationwide.

Students who passed the examination will be eligible to enroll as trainees in the 12-Saturday Mathematical Challenge for Filipino Kids Training Program (MCFKTP) where they can have the opportunity to participate in the different international corresponding mathematics competitions such as: (a) Mathematics Olympiad for Elementary and Middle Schools (MOEMS); (b) American Mathematics Competitions (AMC) - 8, 10, 12; (c) Canadian Open Mathematics Challenge (COMC); (d) Canadian Mathematics Competitions (CMC) - Pascal, Caley and Fermat contests; (e) Rio TINTO Big Science Competition; and (f) International Competition and Assessment for Schools (ICAS) - Math, Science and English.

Likewise, the MTG Philippines will give 16 free slots to every region for the public school students to participate in the Australian Mathematics Competitions, the breakdown of which are: (a) Middle Primary Division (for incoming grades 3 and 4) - 4 slots; (b) Upper Primary Division (for incoming grades 5 and 6) - 4 slots; (c) Junior Division - for incoming 1st and 2nd year High School) - 4 slots; and (d) Intermediate Division (for incoming 3rd and 4th year High School) - 4 slots.

A minimal registration fee of Thirty Five Pesos (PhP35.00) shall be charged to each private elementary or high school participant to cover freight expenses, contest materials and honoraria for the proctors, maintenance personnel and test venues. Public school participants are free of charge.

Furthermore, MTG Philippines will look for sponsors to subsidize any qualified public school math wizards who are top scorers to participate in any international mathematics contest scheduled this year.

Why is this unfair, i mean " Public school participants are free of charge......Furthermore, MTG Philippines will look for sponsors to subsidize any qualified public school math wizards who are top scorers to participate in any international mathematics contest scheduled this year."

Not all who are enrolled in the Public Schools are indigents. Some parents enrolled their kids on Private good to get better education despite their hardship in life..

If the child really deserves to be a contestant, i hope wheter you are in a public or private school, the government should sponsor because the bacon will eventually be for the government.
